Ft. Lee Hotel Approved

A 1,000 room military hotel proposed for Ft. Lee has passed an environmental review.

Col. Michael Morrow, the Garrison Commander, said the review found no significant adverse environmental impacts related to building the hotel, and a construction contract will be awarded within weeks.  The $120 million lodging center is expected to open in mid-2012.  Seven stories, it will be the largest lodging center of its kind.  Several local hotel developers are opposed to the military building, claiming that it will have a negative impact on investments they’ve made related to the expansion of Ft. Lee.
