Charlottesville Police Continue Murder Investigation

A search of the apartment of the suspect in the death of a UVa lacrosse player uncovered several items.

Investigators searched the home of 22-year-old George Huguely, and according to the Daily Progress found a red-stained jersey and a letter to the victim, 22-year-old Yeardley Love.  They also recovered two laptops, a notebook and a number of other items.

Yeardley’s roommate and her roommate’s boyfriend found her battered body early Monday morning.

She was a standout on UVa’s women’s lacrosse team, ranked fourth in the nation.  Huguely played on the number one ranked men’s team.  The two, investigators say, had been involved in a relationship that recently ended.  Huguely is charged with first degree murder.
