New Product Helps Monitor Medications
Katie West and Kirsten Knull have come up with a new product to help families monitor medications for babies and homebound individuals.
The two set up their business, Chicks With Kidz, at the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park in Richmond and they developed two products: the Bizzy Bee and MedAware Pro.
Lohr: They are talented young women who have really conceived this business because of the circumstances they’ve been in, who were out working and having a family of their own, having young children. And having to deal with this so-called pain point.

Lohr: Entrepreneurs that are able to feel and see a pain-point and then put their creativity to work to solve it are many times those end up being some of the great businesses that we see.
Both Bizzy Bee and MedAware Pro, he explained, feature three separate modules to easily monitor medication, sleep, and feeding schedules. Bizzy Bee has alarms that alert caregivers when medications on due. The hand-held MedAware Pro tracks, records, and charts medication dosing schedules.
