University of Mary Washington President Resigns

The President of the University of Mary Washington resigned after less than two years on the job. Details of her settlement have been released.

The University says it will name an acting president on the first of next month to replace Judy Hample.  Answering a request from the Free Lance Star, the school said it has agreed to pay Hample $217,000, in addition to her annual $330,000 salary. There was nothing in her original contract that entitled her to any more money if she quit. Hample begins a sabbatical April 1st that ends June 30th.  That’s the effective date of her resignation.  She became president in 2008.
