Powhatan Man Dies in Car Crash

A 22-year-old Powhatan man died in a crash in Louisa County late Sunday night.

The wreck happened on Route 522 not far from the town of Mineral.

Molnar:   This incident began when a 1997 Pontiac Firebird refused to stop for a Louisa County Deputy Sheriff.

Molnar:  The Pontiac was travelling southbound on the right side of Route 22 at a high rate of speed, when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.

The driver, Charles Yacklon, Jr., from Henrico, who’s 27, and a backseat passenger were hurt.  Their injuries are not life-threatening. They were medivaced to the UVa Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Molnar:  The front seat passenger, James Wolf, Jr., 22, of Powhatan, died at the scene.
