Plane Crash in Louisa County
The pilot of a twin-engine plane was killed yesterday, when he crashed into a home in Louisa, shortly after refueling at nearby Freeman Field.
State police say the plane was en route from Manassas Regional Airport to Danville and had just landed in Louisa for fuel.
Molnar: Less than a quarter mile after taking off from Freeman Field, the plane crashed into a residence here at 128 Jefferson Highway in the Town of Louisa.

Molnar: It’s a two-story home that the plane crashed into. The home is a total loss, the plane crashed nearly nose first into the front of the residence, engulfing the residence in a ball of fire.
The pilot was killed; the homeowner barely escaped.
Molnar: At the time of the crash the resident was at home in the basement, but after the plane crashed into the residence was able to escape through the basement.
Late yesterday, police were working to confirm the victim’s identification and notify family members. Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
