Improving Employment Projections for Richmond Area

Manpower, Incorporated has just released its quarterly employment projections for the Richmond area, and they are improving.

It is the second quarter in a row the trend is up, only this time, much stronger.

Blake: From the clients we’ve interviewed in the Richmond MFA area, that 17 percent of those organizations intend to hire more employees, it looks like about 75% are going to maintain their current levels while 6% are going to reduce their payroll.

Kevin Blake, Regional Director for Southern Virginia.

Blake:  Compare that to last quarter, it’s even stronger, where only 11% were going to increase yet 14% were on the decrease.  We’re seeing a very significant improvement in the outlook for Q2 .

Manpower is a global staffing company that began surveying employers every quarter to determine what they planned to do in the upcoming three months, and it has become a popular barometer for employment trends.

Blake: It’s nice to see the uptick begin.
