Potholes to be Repaired
Governor McDonnell has directed VDOT to pull out all the stops to repair potholes in the highway that he says are both dangerous and expensive.
The harsh winter has brought thousands of them.
Caldwell: Potholes may form very quickly on any road.

Palmer: If the ball joint fails the wheels will fall flat to the ground.

Palmer: If the tie rod was to break you would have no steering on that wheel. A bent rim, what you don’t want is the car coming off the rim while you are travelling down the highway.
And, break an alloy wheel?
Beninghove: Anywhere between $400 and $1200.
Fishburne: For one wheel?
Beninghove: Yessir.

Beninghove: I’ve worked through Saturday, Sunday and everything trying to get those things fixed.
VDOT says it’ll spend 45 million, or whatever, to get them fixed.
Caldwell: We are committed to patching potholes.

Beninghove: At seventy miles an hour and you hit a pothole, yep, you’ll go, Man! And it’s all over then.
