New Report Ranks Health of Localities
Fairfax County is the healthiest locality in the state…and Richmond is near the bottom according to a new national report.
The respected Robert Wood Johnson Foundation does an exhaustive study of all the ingredients that make a healthy environment and educational and economic advantages weigh heavily.
Lake: They looked at graduation rates for high school, four-year college degree, the percentage of children in poverty, income inequality.

Other criteria involve infant immortality, premature death, smoking, obesity, teen birth rate, clinical care, violent crime, pollution, drinking, unemployment. Fairfax is the number one healthiest environment in Virginia. In this area Powhatan is healthiest at number six, Hanover 14, Fluvanna 16, Chesterfield 17, Henrico 43, Richmond City 124, and Petersburg 132.
