Monroe Building Closed Due to Water Leak

The state’s James Monroe Building had to be closed yesterday, the result of a water leak on the 25th floor.

The Department of General Services says the leak was discovered in a utility closet in the offices of the Department of Education.  It appears a pump put too much pressure into the water system, bursting a pipe fitting.  The problem was reported just before nine in the morning.  The Departments of Health, Information Technology and the State Council of Higher Education sent their employees home for the day.  The building is expected to re-open this morning.
