Hopewell Man arrested for First Degree Murder

Hopewell Police have arrested a 39 year old man and charged him with first degree murder.

Investigators say William Stringfield stabbed his roommate, 57-year-old Loney Drummond, to death on Monday afternoon after an argument.  Drummond was stabbed in the chest in the driveway outside of his house on Delrose Avenue, just before five in the afternoon.  He died later at John Randolph Medical Center.  Drummond, a veteran, recently retired from his job as a security guard.  A neighbor told the Progress Index she often heard the two men fighting.  Drummond bought the house about eight years ago.  Stringfield has lived there for the past six years.  When police arrived, Stringfield was gone but he was found at the house just after 11 that night, hiding in a closet.  He is being held now without bond at the Riverside Regional Jail.
