Richmond, VA, April 14, 2016 – The Community Idea Stations’ Science Matters and Ready To Learn educational programs are once again partnering with Chesterﬁeld County Parks and Recreation to inspire families to “Explore the Outdoors.” Over 50 local community groups with expertise in outdoor adventure, healthy living, and environmental science will be on-hand Sunday, May 1 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Activities will include nature walks, tree climbing, archery, fishing, paddle boarding (on dry land), gardening, camping, art, and more.
This is the fourth year for this free event. Last year close to 5,000 parents and children attended. The event is rain or shine.
Parking is at Huguenot Park, 10901 Robious Road. Activities will take place in the park and on the grounds of the Community Idea Stations adjacent to the park. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. The station’s NPR and PBS studios will be open for tours and Curious George, Smokey Bear and a Mermaid will be some of the characters joining in the fun.
