I love themes. I love dissecting stories, plots, ideas and songs. Plus, I love twists. Twists in literature, and in song lyrics and in movies. However, only a few of these points are a part of this week's World Music Show (11/21). Namely, a theme. And the theme for this week's show is "The Long & Short of It." And the "it" is of course, World Music. And broken down even further, it means that we'll explore an hour of some very long World Music Beats paired with an hour of some very short but sweet World Music tracks.

Ok legs, let's go. We've got many miles to cover. On this week's World Music Show (11/14), we're trying to cram too much stuff into one theme or idea. First up, there's the show happening this week, which has it's own playlist. And if you can't tell, the theme is about running (more on that in a moment). And second, there's a brand new function or "thing" that we've created for you to enjoy (if you're a runner or even if you're not) which is also dedicated to running (more on that later).
Perhaps it's the impending holidays or I guess you can say that we've now jumped off the high dive and are hurtling toward the watery abyss of holiday madness below. Halloween? Done! Thanksgiving? Just up ahead. You can see where I'm going with this. So, on this week's World Music Show (11/7), I'm going to help you slow down a bit. Because if we don't take a few moments to just take a breath, then before you know it, it'll be a new year and a new set of holidays.
There's a few things going on for this week's World Music Show (10/31). Sure, they'll be some Halloween-inspired World Music tunes but, to be in the spirit of the day, that's just the tip of the knife or the start of the candy meltdown. The bulk of the show will be a shuffled up mess of songs, in which we jump locales, genres and styles. Plus, added in just for kicks, they'll also be some great cover tunes just to keep the flow going.
In trying to come up with a title for this week's World Music Show (10/24) I landed on the above word "Roustabout." When double checking the meaning, one of the definitions is "Circus Laborer," which pretty much sums up this week's show. On the one hand, when I cull together tracks for a two-hour show dedicated to World Music, I often feel like a ringmaster--you know, coordinating various animals of music and fitting them into an entertaining show.
Ok, I have to give a nod to the the title of this week's World Music Show (10/17). If you're of a certain generation or generations, then you may recognize that snippet. And if you don't recall where it's from, don't worry--I'll reveal it later on because there are more pressing things to uncover, such as a brief overview of what to expect on the show this week.
It won't be complicated for this week's World Music Show (10/10). We'll drop our musical anchor in places like the Dominican Republic, Dakar, France, India and even in the U.S. Plus, within those locales, we'll even dip back in time to hear some psychedelic Funk as well as some early Bollywood dance tunes.
Listen--it's been one of those weeks. You know, not enough time...rain, work, music, life, etc. But, I don't want to skip out on letting you know about this week's World Music Show (10/3). However, I'm just going to bounce in and around the highlights. I will however, give you this tasty little synopsis of what to expect.
It's time to take a trip--a mini trip, at least in hour one of this week's World Music Show (9/26). And if you can't guess by the large picture of Latin American flags, we'll be heading to South America (with one minor detour first).
Yes, the future is now. And that future involves you becoming a member of WCVE during our Fall Membership Campaign. Usually for the weekly blog of The World Music Show (this week, 9/19), I create a well-crafted, supurbly written electronic tome about what's coming up on the show. However, for this week's blog, I'll just stick to the basics--but, for your enjoyment, I will include some pictures and along with some hearty pleas for you to become a member.
