This week, NPR and WCVE lost a member of our family. Tom Magliozzi, co-host of Car Talk, passed away at age 77. On this week’s Car Talk, Ray Magliozzi will honor his older brother with his own memories, and his favorite Tom moments from the show. Tune in to Car Talk on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., here on 88.9 WCVE.

Congratulations to Siri Berdahl who won the trip to London and Highclere Castle - the Real Downton Abbey.
We raised $62,000 in the raffle - a nice chunk of change to help pay for Downton Abbey and the other great Masterpiece and PBS shows we all love!
Thanks to everyone who participated - your support makes our work possible.
This week is National Volunteer Appreciation Week, and we have many volunteers (hundreds!) to appreciate. The Community Idea Stations have a small staff group (fewer than 50 full-time staff members), and making sure our programs are produced and broadcast, our members thanked and supported, and our community outreach activities executed takes more time and hands than we could possibly manage alone. So we ask for help from some of the busiest (and generous) people in the community - and they deliver. Hundreds of them!
We asked Ian Stewart, host of The World Music Show, if he had any holiday gift ideas for world music lovers. Here's what he said...
Want to make an impressive period appropriate entrance to the Byrd Theatre on a cold winter evening? Wear fur (faux fur works great!). Mink, raccoon, fox were popularly used or capes, long coats, collars, stoles, muffs & hats. Hats complete any ensemble with flair – cloth or felt bell-shaped cloches for women in the 1920s or a larger brimmed hat for the 1910s. Add an oversized silk flower, colorful feathers or an art nouveau brooch and your plain hat becomes stylish.
