The talented pianist Orli Shaham will be in Richmond performing Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto with the Richmond Symphony this weekend at the Carpenter Theatre. Music Director Steven Smith will conduct the program which includes Modest Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 6.

The Music from Grace concert series at Grace Baptist Church features soprano Jennifer Piazza-Pick and pianist Cheryl Cellon Lindquist this Sunday (2/21) at 3:00 p.m. The mission of the series is to bring world-class performers directly to the Richmond community to provide easy access to extraordinary music making.
That's right. Here comes the beat, along with Ska, harmonies and some desert guitar music. In fact, this week's World Music Show (2/20) could be titled or sub-titled: Beats, Ska & Harmonies (as a reference to the Rap band with a similar name).

On the turntable (and I use that term figuratively) for this week's World Music Show (2/13), will be some new Brazilian music from a singer who's sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and who's the best female performer in that country with the most #1 hits. Plus, she's also virtually vinyl. Plus, get ready for a mini-salute to the Mexican band Cafe Tacuba, the band who's singer could be channeling Tom Waits.
