What does Mississippi have to do with steak bones? No, we’re not talking springtime cook outs here--this is Time For The Blues not "Cookin’ With Henry". This week (3/25/12) we’ll feature an influential guitar master with a cool nickname and also more guitar wizards than you can shake a Stratocaster at. Bad grammar but great music, so find out what’s up our sleeve this week.
Alright, let's get this bit of stereotypical song stylings out of the way right now. Yes, this week's World Music Show (3/17) falls on St. Patrick's Day. But does this mean you can expect two hours of nothing but Irish music? Not that anything is wrong with that mode of thought. However, since the show aires at the ten o'clock nighttime hour, I figure that by now, you'd have your fill of all things Irish.
Seriously--Love Sculpture? The name may be strange, but the blues are hot! Join us this week on Time for the Blues (3/18/12) as we hear tracks from this Brit blues trio fronted by the legendary Dave Edmunds! We'll also sample the amazing Ana Popovic's latest disc and hear more from the Goldwax Story!
On this week's World Music Show (3/10), I felt like I struck the triple 7's on a slot machine or I scored a trifecta on a horse race. Here's why: Once in a blue moon I strike on a theme that I find enjoyable, quirky and do-able (as in not Pie-in-the Sky). Half the fun of doing this World Music Show is coming up with themes that I hope you get a kick out of.
I probably don’t have to say it--but no basketball talk here. This week’s show begins with Napolean XVI... long, long ago and far, far away--before G. Lucas or mindless electioneering--and--ends in otherworldly fashion with a dance from the fourth rock from the Sun.
