James Cotton, Albert Castiglia and Alligator Sampler!

Henry and I hope you will join us this week (5/5/13) on Time For The Blues as we’ve prepared one of those shows that will live in infamy! We’re pulling out all the stops and bringing you the best blues in our price range, and we’ve blown our whole month’s budget on this show. Well, maybe not, but we have new James Cotton and Albert Castiglia's incredible guitar!

Could you name the band that played on more #1 hits than the Beatles, Stones, Elvis and Beach Boys combined? A great trivia question--more importantly--a great slice of music history.

They were called The Funk Brothers--not only did they play on ALL those great Motown hits but they are they are still influential today--think everyone from Talking Heads to Jeff Beck.

Itchy Feet

It's getting to be that time of year. You know, the weather is finally being somewhat consistent, it's staying lighter longer and I can see the road signs up ahead of a future vacation. It's with that eye on the horizon that I decided to make this week's World Music Show (4/27) a mini-trip to various island nations (with other "beachy" locales thrown in). You could say that I'm getting Itchy Feet about wanting to travel.

World Blues & Other Grooves

Not to ride on the capes of the ever-popular WCVE Public Radio show Time for the Blues, hosted by John Porter and Henry Cook, but every once in awhile I like to feature a bevy of "World Blues" music on this show. So, as a nod to those two fine fellows, on this week's World Music Show (4/20), you'll get to hear a few chunks of this style of music--but done with a world-music twist.
