This year the theme of the Virginia Folklife Area is “Youth Will Be Served.” Master practitioners and the young people that they’ve mentored will demonstrate their handywork and perform in the various musical folk traditions of Virginia.
For ten years the Virginia Folklife area has celebrated Virginia tradition bearers - craftsmen that specialize in building instruments and furniture and musicians that keep alive gospel, bluegrass and old-time music.
This year, instead of focusing on the preservation of folk traditions, the Virginia Folklife area will celebrate the youth that have embraced those tradition and made them their own. 88.9 WCVE producer Peter Solomon has more.
It won't be complicated for this week's World Music Show (10/10). We'll drop our musical anchor in places like the Dominican Republic, Dakar, France, India and even in the U.S. Plus, within those locales, we'll even dip back in time to hear some psychedelic Funk as well as some early Bollywood dance tunes.
We hope you’ll join us this Saturday night (10/3/15) at 11:00 for Time for the Blues, in what is sure to be one of our strangest shows to date. And considering some of the stunts we’ve pulled, that’s saying something!

However, I'm just going to bounce in and around the highlights. I will however, give you this tasty little synopsis of what to expect.
