Spinning the Wheel O' Songs!

I love the randomness of things. Whether it's from a surprise encounter or from an unexpected gift left on your desk, having random things happen keeps your senses alert and alive. So, on this week's World Music Show (8/18/12), I'll once again drag out the proverbial spinning songbook, AKA, the Wheel O' Songs, in order to provide you (and me) with the thrill of the unknown.

The Innovators

My favorite instruments are guitars and brass--and their forerunners from centuries ago. In this age - if we limit ourselves to circa 1969-71 - first thoughts gravitate to Miles Davis and the Allman Brothers. I had the honor of seeing the latter at the now defunct Fillmore East

An Odyssey of Beats

Get ready, because on this week's World Music Show (8/11), the thumps, bumps and rhythms of worldy beats are going to fill your speakers. That's right, whether you're listening to the show on a fine-tuned stereophonic gizmo, or you're dialed up via your clock or car radio, you're going to want to turn that volume up just a hair past where you normally may listen.

Spoiler Alert: There is Good Music Coming

Alright, I'm sure you've heard this before. In fact, what I'm about to say could put me in league with various nefarious salespeople who either push placebo medicines or schlocky automobiles. Here it is: This week's World Music Show (8/4) is going to be fantastic. Really, it will be. And perhaps I'm doing myself, and you the listener, a diservice. I mean, me saying my show is "fantastic" is not an understatement. And if you've been reading my missives and listening to my shows on a regular basis, then you know that what I speak of is true.
