It's always good to look for things in unfamiliar places. Why? Because on the off chance that when you find something, it'll be unique. Or it will be a surprise. But not like those junky surprises found at the bottom of the Cracker Jack box. No, I'm talking about the unexpected--the kind of surprise what makes you stop in your tracks to listen. So for this week's World Music Show (6/18), I'm hoping that what you find will be remarkable and even phantasmagorical (though, I may be overselling this week's show just a tad).
The World Music Show
It's just like clockwork, at least for me. And it's usually around this time of year, when the weather starts to beg us to come outside, that I start hankering to do something. And one of the best things to do outside, at least with a group of people besides running a marathon (though, I'm sure that is debatable), is to see a live show. So, on this week's World Music Show (6/11), I'm going to try to capture that feeling of a live show.
Listen: This past week was a little tough. Life threw me just a little too many curve balls, which made it hard to write out an overview for the show. So for this week’s World Music Show (6/4), I thought I would stoop to doing a basic and random photo essay.
The photos, which don't included everyone on the show, are tagged and as mentioned they’re in no particular order. You’ll just have to tune in to hear when I play some of the below artists. I may mention a bit or two about them as well.
I'm in a bit of a pickle for this week's World Music Show (5/28). You see, it's a holiday weekend, which brings to mind summer, picnics and the like. But to wrap a theme around these images, especially a "World Music" theme is no picnic. In fact, after careful consideration, I think it's best to remember that it's all about the music. And that on this particular holiday, the two driving forces I'm dealing with don't match.
