Love this Giant---Show!

Ah, word play. Like music, it's such a fun thing to do and hear. And on this week's World Music Show (10/4), we'll play some musical, non-verbal gymnastics. The emphasis will be on the "play" part. Because throughout this two-hour shindig we'll play all sorts of musical games, such as Hopscotch, Connect Four and Trivial Pursuit.  As you can probably guess, it's going to be a Giant show.

Locally Global

Sprinkled thoughout many of these World Music Show shows will be snippets of locally grown World Music. But once in awhile, such as on this week's show (9/27), you'll get a good chunk of local Richmond World Music all in one shot. And if you think RVA doesn't have a lot to offer in terms of bands and musicians who cover this genre, think again.

Too Cool for School

Listen. I'm not actually saying that if you tune into this week's World Music Show (9/20) that you'll be too cool for school. But, if you do happen to check out this week's show, you may walk away with a few new tunes to hum and perhaps a broader appreciation of music from around the globe.

Expanding your Mind

In retrospect, it seems so simple.

In thinking about The World Music Show (9/13) for this week and about Public Radio in general, the gist of it all--the purpose and/or result is to expand your mind. Savvy listeners like yourselves relish on being "in the know," and on being entertained while at the same time learning a few new things during whatever program you tune in for. Am I right?
