The Long & Short of It

I love themes. I love dissecting stories, plots, ideas and songs. Plus, I love twists. Twists in literature, and in song lyrics and in movies. However, only a few of these points are a part of this week's World Music Show (11/21). Namely, a theme. And the theme for this week's show is "The Long & Short of It." And the "it" is of course, World Music. And broken down even further, it means that we'll explore an hour of some very long World Music Beats paired with an hour of some very short but sweet World Music tracks.

Running on World Music

Ok legs, let's go. We've got many miles to cover. On this week's World Music Show (11/14), we're trying to cram too much stuff into one theme or idea. First up, there's the show happening this week, which has it's own playlist. And if you can't tell, the theme is about running (more on that in a moment). And second, there's a brand new function or "thing" that we've created for you to enjoy (if you're a runner or even if you're not) which is also dedicated to running (more on that later).

In Your Ear Episode 37: River Whyless

On this episode, we hear from a fearless neo-traditional quartet from the Carolina mountains, River Whyless--experimental, undefinable, completely original and cutting their own path through a crowded field of young indie-folk string bands. When the music is this thoughtful, this interesting, labels are impossible and irrelevant. With Ryan O’Keefe, Halli Anderson, Alex McWalters and Daniel Shearin, we invite you to spend a thoughtful and riveting hour with River Whyless.
