#WomenWhoRuleTheWorld & #PunkRockGirls

If only I could title this week’s World Music Show (1/27) blog “Women Who Rock!” Because that title encompasses the power and the message and the “umph” that I think this week’s show will produce. The alternative title, “World Music Women,” or “Women who are Worldly” just doesn’t have the same feeling.

So what’s a World Music Show host to do?

A Baguette of Tunes

I’m assuming like most cultures, the French hate cliches as much as any culture—especially when it comes to describing all things French. I mean, it’s too easy to fill up a beret of croissant filled images of all things Parisian. So on this week’s World Music Show (1/20), I’ll try to avoid using cliches to describe some of the great French music that will dominate the first hour like a shadow of the Eiffel Tower over a cafe.

Beats O’ Plenty

It’s going to be big beats O’ sound for this week’s World Music Show (1/13). From an hour of Afrobeat, with a look at its past, present and future, to some classic Brazilian beats by a master statesmen who worked some hip-hop legends, to some Dub beats as well as some brand-spanking new Latin alternative music, it’ll be Beats O’ Plenty!

To jump start our foray into this magical land, you’ll first have to strap on those ear-goggles or crank up the speakers to just about maximum, since you’ll want to take full advantage of the music.
