Ok, let's get that title reference out of the way before it scares anyone off from listening to this week's World Music Show (7/9). It's a play on the title to AMC's "Walking Dead" spin-off, "Fear the Walking Dead." Now, how, you may ask, can I associate that show with this week's World Music Show? Well, there's a great tie-in, which I'll get to, right after this brief commercial break.
Join us in Studio A at your Community Idea Stations for Ian Stewart’s World Music Show and Birthday Bash, hosted by 88.9 WCVE Public Radio. Enjoy local jazz, funk and of course--world music, along with food from the Hard Pressed food truck and pints of beer from the newly-opened brewery Steam Bell Beer Works.
Looking out among the vast sea of sounds for this week's World Music Show (7-2-16), I see that we'll groove to some electronic tango music and we'll visit some beats from the magical land of Bongolia. Plus, we'll even hear what Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, sounds like when he plays with some Aztec Indians. And that, as they say is just the tip of the iceberg.
As if the heat and humidity weren't enough to bear, on this week's World Music Show (6/25), we'll head to the Saharan desert to get relief from some desert blues music, which features lush guitar and cooling rhythms. And we'll dive into the sauna to hear some Red Hot + Rio beats, just to be ironic. Plus, for kicks we'll also check out some Malaysian ukulele songs as well as some 60s French Pop music. Then to put all that into perspective we'll hear some Garifuna music from the Caribbean regions, which are sure to add a little bit of a breeze to the hour.
