Cellist Amit Peled and the Peabody Cello Gang

Esteemed cellist Amit Peled is highly respected on the worldwide stage as a performer and teacher. Currently on the faculty of the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, he leads The Amit Peled Peabody Cello Gang. The ensemble is composed of students from his studio and performs works written for or arranged for cello ensemble. They often tour around the country, performing standard cello concerti with Peled as soloist and the Gang as orchestral accompaniment, as well as cello choir repertoire.

Magnum Columbo--Musical Detective

Sometimes I feel like I’m a detective--a musical detective. Perhaps my name should be “Magnum Columbo” or “Inspector Dorkus,”  because on this week’s World Music Show (2/2/18), I try to uncover some interesting musical tidbits not often heard on the radio. And in this week’s two-parter episode, I’ll be exploring all Brazil has to offer.

#WomenWhoRuleTheWorld & #PunkRockGirls

If only I could title this week’s World Music Show (1/27) blog “Women Who Rock!” Because that title encompasses the power and the message and the “umph” that I think this week’s show will produce. The alternative title, “World Music Women,” or “Women who are Worldly” just doesn’t have the same feeling.

So what’s a World Music Show host to do?
