Listen. I'm not actually saying that if you tune into this week's World Music Show (9/20) that you'll be too cool for school. But, if you do happen to check out this week's show, you may walk away with a few new tunes to hum and perhaps a broader appreciation of music from around the globe.
Join us this week (9/20/14) as Time for the Blues answers that age-old question--just how does John and Henry find the blues they play? Well, we have no order on our shelves whatsoever! Most of the time we're staring at rows of CDs and this week I'm picking some stuff you haven't heard for awhile, but should have!
In retrospect, it seems so simple.
In thinking about The World Music Show (9/13) for this week and about Public Radio in general, the gist of it all--the purpose and/or result is to expand your mind. Savvy listeners like yourselves relish on being "in the know," and on being entertained while at the same time learning a few new things during whatever program you tune in for. Am I right?
We hope you’ll join us this week (9/13/14) on Time For The Blues as Henry and I are planning a great show with so many classics you know, several great sides you probably won’t know, and even some brand new tunes you definitely won’t want to miss!
Look. Mixing musical genres on the World Music Show is not unsual. I mean, there always seems to be a mash-up of Afro-pop, Latin Alternative or Funky Salsa music exploding through the speakers on any given show. And on this week's World Music Show (9/6), we delve into a mix of Pop and Rap--German Style--by the artist CRO.
But that's not all.
Remember my World Music Blog from last week? If not, I'm sure if you look around here a bit you'll be able to find it. To refresh your memory, the title was "Women who Rock." Now, after looking over last week's show, I realized that there, of course, could have been more women featured under this umbrella. So, on this week's World Music Show (8/30), I will continue highlighting some Women who Rock--World Music Style.
