The Music from Grace concert series at Grace Baptist Church features soprano Jennifer Piazza-Pick and pianist Cheryl Cellon Lindquist this Sunday (2/21) at 3:00 p.m. The mission of the series is to bring world-class performers directly to the Richmond community to provide easy access to extraordinary music making.
That's right. Here comes the beat, along with Ska, harmonies and some desert guitar music. In fact, this week's World Music Show (2/20) could be titled or sub-titled: Beats, Ska & Harmonies (as a reference to the Rap band with a similar name).
But this is just the tip of the drumstick my friends.
On the turntable (and I use that term figuratively) for this week's World Music Show (2/13), will be some new Brazilian music from a singer who's sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and who's the best female performer in that country with the most #1 hits. Plus, she's also virtually vinyl. Plus, get ready for a mini-salute to the Mexican band Cafe Tacuba, the band who's singer could be channeling Tom Waits.
We hope you’ll join us this Saturday night (2/13/16) at 11:00 for Time for the Blues as Henry and I are going to continue our search for some of the best releases of 2015. It just won’t be the same if you’re not there to join in the fun and enjoy the great blues!
For many of us, 2015 was not the greatest of years; for others it was stellar. One thing we can all probably agree on is that some fantastic music was unleashed on the world – and we’ve got a nice sampling of it for you.
Harmony. Harmony can mean many things. From the obvious meaning in music to the slightly obscure or obtuse one in terms of cohesiveness, harmony is nice solid word. On this weeks World Music Show (2/6), I'll attempt the almost impossible: To stay harmonious throughout the two-hour broadcast.
We hope you will join us this Saturday night (2/6/16) on Time for the Blues as Henry and I have put together a great show with some very exciting blues that we think you are really going to enjoy! Plus we're featuring Texas bluesman Benny Turner, appearing in Richmond next weekend!
