Considered the “first Spaghetti Western,” Puccini’s The Girl of the Golden West (La Fanciulla del West) highlights the rigors of the mid-1800’s California mining rush and depicts the rough and tumble world of the Wild West. Virginia Opera brings their latest production to the Carpenter Theatre in Dominion Arts Center this weekend!
Guest conductor Andrew Bisantz stopped by our WCVE studios, along with singers Melisa Bonetti (Wowkle) and Brandon Morales (Billy Jackrabbit & Castro). Enjoy our discussion of the opera and some musical excerpts!
Performances are this evening (8:00 p.m) and Sunday afternoon (2:30 p.m.) in the Carpenter Theatre at Dominion Arts Center.
Yours in good music,
