Virginia Opera is in Richmond this weekend, presenting Benjamin Britten’s “A Midsummer Night's Dream” at the Carpenter Theatre Friday evening (2/23) at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon (2/25) at 2:30 p.m. It’s an exciting retelling of Shakespeare’s classic story, led by Artistic Advisor Adam Turner.
Virginia Opera tells us that “the inventive and enchanting score offers a rich display of musical parody mimicking the entangled story-lines and character interactions. The drama unfolds around a magical love inducing flower and offers fantasy, imagination, comedy and romance all rolled into one epic opera production!”
Adam Turner and singer Matthew Burns (playing the role of Bottom) joined me for a discussion of this weekend’s production. Enjoy our chat!
