The Richmond Symphony Chorus will pay homage to their founder James Erb this Friday evening (4/28) at Second Baptist Church. The “James Erb Choral Celebration” takes place at 7:30 p.m. and will be led by Erin Freeman. The concert will feature many of Erb’s arrangements, including his famous rendition of “Shenandoah.” The chorus will perform three of the movements from the Requiem by Johannes Brahms, the final full work that Erb prepared with the Richmond Symphony Chorus.
Erin Freeman stopped by our 88.9 WCVE studios to discuss the program and the history of the chorus.
Yours in good music,
Classical Music Host, 88.9 WCVE
