The Richmond Symphony is presenting a new summer concert series “Summer at CenterStage,” in partnership with the University of Richmond School of Music and VCUarts. The inaugural season will feature 8 one-hour concerts highlighting the complete sonatas by Johannes Brahms. The individual concerts will spotlight works for piano and solo instruments.
Concerts will be held each Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Libby S. Gottwald Playhouse at Richmond CenterStage. The series opener is July 10th, featuring Richmond Symphony concertmaster Daisuke Yamamoto and pianist Doris Wylee-Becker.
Richmond Symphony Executive Director David Fisk stopped by 88.9 WCVE with violinist Susanna Klein and pianist Charles Staples to talk about the summer season and their participation. Klein and Staples will be the featured artists on August 21st. Fisk will perform on the August 14th program with violinist Jocelyn Vorenberg.
The series concludes August 28th, with clarinetist Jared Davis and pianist Daniel Stipe. Tickets are available for individual concerts or as a season subscription. More information can be found online at richmondsymphony.com. You can purchase tickets online or by calling 1.800.514.ETIX.
