Symphony Spotlight highlights the careers of orchestral musicians across the country. My guest for our November segment is Gaelen McCormick, double bass player with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Gaelen joined the RPO in 1995, after holding positions with the Erie Philharmonic, the Binghamton Philharmonic and the Albany Symphony.
Teaching is an important part of her life, and she is on the faculty at Nazareth College and the Eastman Community Music School, both in Rochester. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Society of Bassists, and is the editor of their Bass World magazine’s teaching column. Her three book set on double bass bow technique, Mastering the Bow, is published by Carl Fischer.
Enjoy our chat on this month’s Symphony Spotlight!
Yours in good music,
