Esteemed cellist Amit Peled is highly respected on the worldwide stage as a performer and teacher. Currently on the faculty of the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, he leads The Amit Peled Peabody Cello Gang. The ensemble is composed of students from his studio and performs works written for or arranged for cello ensemble. They often tour around the country, performing standard cello concerti with Peled as soloist and the Gang as orchestral accompaniment, as well as cello choir repertoire. Recently, the Gang released their first album, with works by Franz Schubert, David Popper and George Frideric Handel.
I had the pleasure to sit down with Amit and talk about his background with the cello, how he ended up in the U.S. at the Peabody Institute and the creation of the Gang. I hope you enjoy our chat and you can check out the album HERE.
Yours in good music,
