Eat Smart for a Great Start!

This September, PBS KIDS makes it easy for families to stay healthy and active with PBS KIDS Eat Smart for a Great Start. Studies have shown that poor nutrition and lack of exercise can negatively impact children's academic performance. To help start the school year off right, PBS KIDS has developed themed television programming, online content, and partnerships with Allrecipes.com and Produce for Kids -- to provide kids and parents with resources that support health and physical activity.
All month, PBS Parents will be featuring articles, tips, recipes and activities for parents and children on the Eat Smart for a Great Start website. These will range from quick snacks to ideas for weekends that will help families explore food, nutrition and health. Parents can also stop by the PBS Parents site to find daily tips on the Eat Smart Challenge blog or sign up for email reminders to be a part of the challenge. Guest coaches include PBS Parents’ Kitchen Explorers, Aviva Goldfarb and Alice Currah, Professor Fizzy of Fizzy’s Lunch Lab and coaches from partners, Produce for Kids and Allrecipes.com. Week day posts will be available on our Ready To Learn Facebook page.
Kids can join PBS KIDS Host, Hooper, at the online kids’ hub to find video and interactive games. From dancing at Dash’s Dance Party to trying a new recipe with Professor Fizzy in the lunch lab, kids can have fun while they explore the worlds of nutrition and health.
PBS will also be airing programs all month long that encourage kids to explore food, nutrition, health, exercise, sportsmanship and fair play. From Sesame Street to The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That!, there’s something for every PBS KID.
