Individuals with disABILITIES: Let’s Start with Awareness

Individuals with disabilities, is the correct phrase; not disabled people. These individuals don’t have “special” needs, they simply have “different” needs. There is a large majority of individuals with disabilities in the Richmond region. They face accessibility challenges and improper etiquette on a daily basis.

This panel will give an up-close and personal glimpse into the lives of individuals with disabilities and bring forth more awareness to community leaders and the region as a whole.

Gene Lepley, host and moderator, is joined by guest panelists:

  • Carolyn Trimmer, Compliance Specialist, The Greater Richmond ARC
  • Katherine Walton Lawson, LMR '99, Subject Expert
  • Kelly Hickok, Community Services Coordinator, Resources for Independent Living
  • Linda Broady-Myers, Chairman, Richmond Area MPO Elderly and Disabled Advisory Committee (EDAC)
