Seven Days Battles

The week of June 25th to July 1st, 1862 was momentous for the Confederacy and for the Richmond area in particular. In a series of engagements known as “The Seven Days Battles,” George MacClellan’s Army of the Potomac attempted to capture the Confederate capitol. That attempt was thwarted by General Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia in six bloody engagements that led to staggering losses on both sides and changed the course of the war.

To mark the 150th anniversary of the Seven Days Battles and to explore its impact on those living in the Richmond area, Richmond National Battlefield Park and the American Civil War Center will present a multimedia program this weekend (Saturday, June 23rd at 8:30 PM) at Tredegar Iron Works.
