Let’s explore with and meet Sid the Science Kid!

Sid the Science Kid

The Community Idea Stations’ Ready To Learn and Science Matters programs are partnering with the Children’s Museum of Richmond to bring Sid the Science Kid to Richmond! He will be at the museum’s Short Pump location on March 16 and at the Central location on March 17 and 18. Sid will be meeting and greeting children throughout the day, with his first visit planned at 10:00 a.m. Visits will be every hour on the hour, for approximately thirty minutes at a time. Families are invited to bring cameras and snap a photo with their favorite young scientist… Sid the Science Kid! This event is free with museum admission.

Not only will children be able to meet Sid, they can enjoy Sid-themed, hands-on activities that will bring the fun of science to life! At the Community Idea Stations’ table, each child will receive a Little Scientist journal which will encourage skills of investigating, predicting, comparing, contrasting, and observing… just like a real scientist. Additional activities include story time which will feature Sid books and episode screenings. There will also be an opportunity to explore the Sid the Science Kid website with its video and interactive games.

The winner of the recent Community Idea Stations’ Sid Quiz will be announced on March 17 at noon. That winner will receive a free family membership to the Children’s Museum for one year, as well as Sid the Science Kid plush characters and program DVDs. Five runner-up prizes of family four-packs to CMoR and other Sid-themed prizes will also be awarded.

If you didn’t have an opportunity for your child to enter our Sid Quiz, it’s not too late to be a winner. The Children’s Museum plans a CMoR Science Quiz of their own. The children who complete the quiz will be entered in a drawing to win a CMoR Family Membership. Be on the look-out for more cool giveaways at the museum! See you there!

I am thankful that PBS K id's/Idea Stations and the Children's Museum are making it possible for Sid the Science Kid to come to Richmond.Although my grandchildren are grown, the children that I take care of are 1,5, and 7 and they love the shows on PBS Kids.Thank you for the wonderful programming on PBS Kids and for the terrific enviornment of the Children's Museum that stimulates all the young minds that visit there!
